Nic Starr lives in Australia where she tries to squeeze as much into her busy life as possible. Balancing the demands of a corporate career with raising a family and writing can be challenging but she wouldn’t give it up for the world.

Always a reader, the lure of m/m romance was strong and she devoured hundreds of wonderful m/m romance books before eventually realising she had some stories of her own that needed to be told!

When not writing or reading, she loves to spend time with her family–an understanding husband and two beautiful daughters–and is often found indulging in her love of cooking and planning her dream home in the country.

Torn

Torn - Shawn Bailey This story started well. So much potential in a tale of a young man escaping his abusive boyfriend and finding happiness with a caring, well-off attorney. However, the story didn't fully hit the mark and didn't live up to my expectations. The characters were great. The bad guys (Tony and Mike) were bad and the good guys (Caleb, Frank and Vick) were all good! The New Orleans setting was interesting and the pace kept things moving along. Justin made a great hero and Sam was wonderful. Sam, although abandoned by his mother and working as a host in a club, is obviously a nice guy - he must be a nice guy because he didn't even want to use the hotel hairdryer in case he woke guests in neighbouring rooms! :)I felt the book was let down by some aspects that seemed a bit irrelevant to the overall story. I didn't fully understand why Justin's parents needed to be included, other than maybe as an obvious sign that Justin was bringing Sam into his life. I also thought Justin's proposal for Caleb to join him and Sam in a relationship was unnecessary.Overall, not bad but not the wonderful fairy tale I was looking forward to.
